DECIMA // OFFF2022

For the OFFF Barcelona 20th Anniversary title sequence, "DECIMA," I collaborated closely with GMUNK to translate his ambitious vision into a visceral, cinematic reality. Serving as the primary creative partner for the film's visual aspiration, I was responsible for the entire VFX pipeline, finessing, and the final finishing process. My role required a meticulous "pixel-craft" approach, operating at a millimetrical level to ensure that the high-concept sci-fi narrative felt both technologically advanced and tangibly organic.

I spearheaded the development of the film's signature holographic looks and digital light effects, specifically focusing on the intricate "Human Dream Field" and the "Soul Extraction" climax. This involved creating complex, immersive holograms inspired by the red-hot laser arrays of the robotic shamans, as well as managing the seamless integration of practical laser assets with digital enhancements. Because the film was ultimately transferred to 35mm motion picture stock, I had to ensure that every digital effect—from the generative light patterns within the "Supreme" to the volumetric glows of the "Rune"—maintained a texture and halation that honored the analog emulsion. My work was essential in "humanizing" the machines and capturing the spiritual intensity of a story centered on mortality, rebirth, and illumination.
My role sat at the intersection of Production Design and Visual Effects, where I developed seamless set extensions that transformed the physical location into an imposing, high-fashion estate. I oversaw the creation of the atmospheric environments—from the magnificent gardens to the regal ballroom—ensuring that every frame felt self-confident and style-defining. By integrating these digital "paintings" and architectural enhancements, I helped establish a visual narrative that bridged the gap between classical heritage and the bold, cultural shift of a new generation of athletes.
